- Too much 'non-stick' blue painters tape is always better than not enough. Apply it liberally across all baseboards and crown moldings.
- Wait for dry air and weather, or turn on the heat in your house before you paint.
- Remove all light switch and electrical outlet covers before taping.
- Protect anything in the room that you don't want paint on by covering it with plastic and taping the plastic down. Assume whatever you don't cover well will get dirty.
- Purchase high quality everything, it will be a visual difference in the quality of your finished product. This includes: brushes, rollers, and paint.
- Always fix any deviations in your walls. These can be nail holes, cracks, or water damage.
- Prep your surface! Please! Sand, prime, then paint.
